The S180 series is equipped with Miele’s PowerhouseTM motor system.
This high output vacuum cleaner motor provides enduring muscle to generate great suction power so you can confidently tackle virtually any cleaning assignment in your home.
In order to protect the PowerhouseTM motor, all Miele full-size upright vacuums employ a unique bypass system.
This means the debris you vacuum up actually bypasses the motor housing.
Other vacuum cleaners are designed so the stream of debris - which sometimes can include large objects like coins and paperclips - passes through the fan of the motor, likely causing major damage to this expensive component.
Miele’s design increases the longevity of the machine, offering years of trouble-free vacuuming.
The PowerhouseTM motor also provides the power to spin the beater bar at a high rate of speed. This action separates carpet fibers and allows the strong airflow of the machine to remove debris lodged deep in the base of the carpeting.
Both the S184 and S185 models have variable, motor-speed controls to reduce the suction power of the machine, providing hassle-free grooming and dusting of area rugs and drapery.
In order to easily move from carpeting to smooth surfaces like hardwood or tile, each vacuum cleaner comes standard with a smooth floor switch.
Simply move the switch to disengage the beater bar, and you are ready to glide over the area.
A unique front-edge cleaning strip, included on the S185 model, provides full-width cleaning around baseboards and moldings.
